Track urination without delaying care
Write what you can verify
Record time, attempts, visible urine, blood, vocalizing and behavior. In a shared tray, 'cat unknown' is more honest than assigning a clump. Changing litter types changes how clumps look, so note that too. Pictures can show a change but cannot prove a diagnosis.
Prepare for the clinic
Bring medications, food details and prior urinary history along with observations. Ask the clinic if it wants a sample and how to obtain and transport one. Do not delay an urgent visit to collect urine or confine a distressed cat for a better record.
Read the record carefully
A record helps your vet compare visits, not certify safety between them. No entries does not mean no problem, especially if you were away or multiple cats share a tray. Ask your vet which changes to call about and what follow-up the specific condition needs.
